Dreams

You’ve invited yourself into my dreamworld.

A place usually still and quiet, where endless freeways blur into vast deep blue oceans. Dangerous grassy trails linger near fragile cliffs.

We are speaking, I’m in your passenger seat studying your hand caressing my thigh. Suddenly, I feel empty. As if my subconscious felt the need to bring me back to reality, half way through the conversation I stop.

Wait-

How are we talking to each other? When did you make your way back here?

Why do I feel butterflies again?

I can feel the intensity of reconnecting with a lover even in my dream realm.

I felt worried, scared.

Treading carefully so as not to break the delicacy of our reconnection.

Waking up feels heavy, bittersweet.
